TOKYO: Several hundred Japanese and foreign residents marched in the crowded Shinjuku district in Tokyo to pay tribute to the 20,000 Palestinians massacred by the Israeli occupation military.

The demonstrators took turns denouncing the “indiscriminate and criminal” bombing of Palestinians and journalists in the Gaza Strip on Christmas Eve. They urged a boycott of Israeli products like lemons as well as calling for a boycott of major brands like McDonald’s and Coca-Cola, which they consider complicit in the Israeli genocide of the Palestinians.

One demonstrator told Arab News Japan that she was there to urge the locals not to celebrate Christmas while genocide is being committed in Gaza. An American professor said that he was ashamed of his government, which vetoed the United Nations resolution for a cease-fire. He added that it was an infamy in the history of the United States.

The arms export agreements that the Japanese government recently authorized “without parliamentary” debate were also denounced by the demonstrators.

After speeches, the demonstrators laid down for 10 minutes to commemorate the victims of the Israeli massacre of Palestinians in Gaza.
