Taipei: The Taiwanese government said Monday that it has raised some 540 million Taiwan dollars from the public for donations to Japan following a massive New Year’s Day earthquake.
The Japanese earthquake has been drawing keen attention among people in Taiwan, which is also earthquake-prone like Japan.
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has issued a message of support soon after the earthquake and offered aid. The Taiwanese government has pledged to donate 60 million yen.
