TOKYO: Mounir Ben Rjiba, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, paid a working visit to Japan from February 27 to March 1 to participate in the VIP program of the “Expo 2025″event and meet with Japanese government officials.

The Secretary of State held meetings with several Japanese officials, including his Japanese counterpart TSUGE Yoshifumi, during which they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of cooperation between them.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with bilateral relations, especially through holding bilateral events, exchange visits between senior officials and coordination on international and regional issues of mutual interest.

Ben Rjiba also discussed with ISHII Taku, the Japanese Vice Minister of Economy, Trade, economic and trade cooperation, on ways to promote and develop that, especially considering the reforms being carried out by Tunisia to boost growth and attract more foreign investment.

During a working session with Japan-Tunisia Parliamentary Friendship Association members, Ben Rjiba discussed the role of parliamentary diplomacy and friendship groups in the two countries in advancing Tunisian Japanese bilateral cooperation.

He also met with the vice president of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), ANDO Naoki, following the implementation of Tunisian Japanese financial and technical cooperation projects and had discussions with representatives of several Japanese companies investing in Tunisia.

In Osaka, Secretary of State Ben Rjiba Met met Expo 2025 officials, including General Commissioner HANEDA Koji and the Mayor of Osaka, YOKOYAMA Hideyuki, and discussed Tunisia’s participation in the world event, which will be held in Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025. He also met members of the Tunisian community residing in Osaka, during which he highlighted the efforts to keep Tunisians abroad well informed.
