

Japan’s Defense Minister KIHARA Minoru held a talk with Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khalid Bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah on June 1, where they agreed to further promote the two countries’ bilateral defense relations.
They shared that bilateral ties can be strengthened through enhanced communications between defense authorities, such as through the Military-to-Military Dialogue, which was newly established in November 2023.
Additionally, both ministers discussed their views on current regional situations. The Japanese minister shared his expectations of Qatar’s role in stabilizing the Middle East.
The two leaders met during the 21st International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, where Kihara gave a speech about Japan’s efforts to maintain stability in Indo-Pacific region.
