DUBAI: Egyptian politician and the current Executive Director at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Ghada Waly, will be visiting Japan from July 4 to 6, where she is expected to pay a courtesy call to Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko and hold the 11th Japan-UNODC strategic policy dialogue.
Waly will meet Kamikawa on July 4, where the two will discuss various issues.
On July 5, she will hold the 11th Japan-UNODC strategic policy dialogue alongside KOBE Yasuhiro, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, as they discuss strategic goals and priority areas. Officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, the National Police Agency, and the Japan Coast Guard are expected to participate.
Additionally, Waly will give a lecture at Waseda University, where she will discuss young people’s expected roles in the current global situation.
The Egyptian politician has been UNODC’s Executive Director since 2020. Previously, she served as the Minister of Social Solidarity of Egypt from 2014 until 2019.
