TOKYO: The Japan Coast Guard this month has been aiding Indonesia’s Coast Guards, centering on enforcement capabilities.
JCG personnel delivered lectures on how the Indonesian Coast Guard could improve its operational skills and on criminal investigation techniques.
The training was to enhance Indonesia’s capabilities in actual situations that might involve both search and rescue operations as well as criminal matters.
The JCG dispatched three members of its Mobile Cooperation Team, a special team that provides coast guard agencies in other countries with capacity-building support on maritime safety and security, to the Indonesia Coast Guard.
The project operates under the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The JCG says it will continue to strengthen its cooperation with other coast guard agencies to realize a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” based on the rule of law. Additionally, the JCG will also provide technical assistance to coast guard agencies in the Indo-Pacific region.
