TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko on Thursday met with Noa Argamani, who was taken hostage in the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas.
Her father, Yacov Argamani, and Israeli Ambassador to Japan Gilad Cohen also attended the meeting.
Noa was reportedly taken hostage on Oct. 7 last year and was rescued on June 8. Yacov Argamani previously paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Kamikawa in December.
Noa explained what happened on the day of the attack and her life as a hostage.
She requested Japan’s cooperation to help effect the early release of the more than 100 hostages who are still being held.
Kamikawa stated that she was very pleased to be able to see Noa reunited with her family and that she would continue to make every diplomatic effort to achieve a ceasefire and a resolution of the situation in Gaza that could lead to the release of the hostages and improve the humanitarian situation there.
Japan has yet to meet with any Palestinian victims of the Israeli bombardment on the Gaza strip.
