
TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio held a telephone meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan on Monday and emphasized how important is for the sides in the conflict in the Middle East to avoid tit-for-tat attacks on each other.
Kishida said Japan is paying close attention to the situation in the Middle East has been reaching out to the parties concerned. The two leaders exchanged views on how to handle things going forward and agreed to continue cooperation, including on ways to protect Japanese nationals and avoid further escalation.
King Abdullah noted that the situation is extremely tense and said it was important to cooperate with its “important partner” Japan. The King shared Prime Minister Kishida’s view regarding the current situation.
The King also explained the latest situation on the ground as well as Jordan’s diplomatic efforts. He added that Jordan would spare no effort to ensure the safety of Japanese nationals in case of emergency.
