TOKYO: Palestine Olympic Committee President Jibril Mahmoud Muhammad Rajoub met with Japanese Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA Yoko on Tuesday and thanked her for Japan’s support of Palestine.

Rajoub outlined the current situation in Gaza and reiterated the importance of the two-state solution for Palestine. He also emphasized the importance of international exchange through sports.

Kamikawa said she feels a strong sense of crisis concerning the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and intends to cooperate closely with the Palestinian side to work towards a ceasefire.

Kamikawa confirmed Japan’s position of supporting a two-state solution for Palestine. To achieve this, she said, it will be important “to advance reform of the Palestinian Authority” and that Japan intends to contribute proactively to this end.
