TOKYO: A unified government is essential for the stabilization of Libya, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI Yoshimasa told Libya’s Vice President of the Presidential Council Abdullah Allafi at a meeting in Tokyo on Thursday.

Hayashi said he was happy that relations between the two countries, including the exchange of high-level officials, are being revitalized.

He conveyed his view that political stability through elections and the establishment of a unified government is essential to stabilize Libya.

Vice President Allafi explained the security situation in his country and said he hoped it would be able to make use of Japan’s knowledge of peace-building.

The two sides concurred about the revitalization of bilateral relations and exchanged views on ways to achieve it.
