Japan offers condolences to victims of Turkiye ski resort fire

Japan’s Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi sent a message of condolence to his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, following the fire accident that broke out in the northwest province of Bolu.

The fire engulfed the Kartalkaya Ski Resort in Turkiye and killed 79 people.

“I am deeply saddened by the recent fire accident, which has resulted in many casualties,” Iwaya said.

“I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish the swiftest recovery to those who were injured. I would also like to convey my heartfelt sympathies to the people and government of Turkiye,” he added.

The country announced a day of mourning in memory of the victims. At least nine people, including the hotel owner, have been detained in connection the deadly incident.
