AMMAN: Japan’s Ambassador to Jordan Hideki Asari on Thursday attended the graduation ceremony of UNRWA’s ‘Leadership Excellence and Accountability Programme (LEAP)’, supported by the Japanese government.

The Japanese embassy said the programme aims to enhance the agency’s accountability and compliance by providing management staff with practical learning workshops focused on the concept of Women, Peace and Security (WPS).

In a speech during the ceremony, the Ambassador said UNRWA played a “vital” role in delivering humanitarian assistance, healthcare, education and other “critical” services for Palestine refugees in Jordan and the region.

The envoy reiterated Japan’s commitment to supporting Palestinian refugees in need.
