
TOKYO: Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi told Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI Takuma that his country wants to deepen cooperation with Japan in the field of maritime security and emphasized the importance of assistance from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in countering piracy.
State Minister Miyaji expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Oman to the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force carrying out anti-piracy operations in the Middle East and north Africa, and also for the efforts made by Oman in realizing the release of the crew of the Galaxy Leader, which was detained in Yemen by Houthi forces.
Badr said Oman is aiming to develop the region based on its comprehensive foreign policy, which is founded on peace and security.
Miyaji also expressed his hope that the Oman Pavilion at this year’s Osaka-Kansai Expo would be a success and that many Omanis would visit Japan.
Both sides agreed to further deepen the friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries and to cooperate in promoting exchanges.
