TOKYO: The Ruyat Hilal Committee Japan on Friday announced that 1st Ramadan Al-Mubarak, 1446 AH, will fall on Sunday March 2 in Japan, as the Hilal (Crescent) was not sighted in Japan or in Malaysia on February 28.

“So, according to the Fatwa of Ulama, we follow Malaysia Islamic authorities in this case,” the Committee explained. “Saturday (March 1) is 30 Shaban, 1446 AH. The Ruyat Hilal Committee-Japan would like to extend best wishes to you and to the Ummah Islamiyah for Ramadan Al-Mubarak.”

“May Allah have mercy on the Ummah Islamiyah and guide all Muslims to follow the holy Qur’an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad and do good deeds.”
