
TOKYO: Japan decided on Wednesday to provide Emergency Relief goods and a Grant of approximately 6 million US dollars to the earthquake-hit Myanmar through international organizations and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said.
Japan has already dispatched a Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Medical Team to the country.
The foreign ministry in Tokyo said Japan will continue to provide as much humanitarian assistance as possible in the manner that directly benefits the people of Myanmar who are in need.
An earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28 and has resulted in a large damage. Myanmar media reported that 2,719 people died, 4,521 people are injured, and around 441 people remain missing, as of April 1. The number of victims is expected to increase as search operations continue.
