TOKYO: Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs IKUINA Akiko on Thursday attended the departure ceremony at the Cabinet Office for the four personnel who will be deployed to Egypt for one year as staff personnel of the 7th Session of the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) of the International Peace Cooperation Corps (IPCC).
Ikuina offered words of encouragement to the four dispatched personnel – three colonels and a sergeant from the Self-Defense Forces – and expressed her respect for their contribution to stability between Israel and Egypt through their work at MFO.
She added that she hopes their mission in the region will be successful and they will return home safely.
Japan has been dispatching staff personnel to the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) since April 2019. Currently, four staff personnel are working as Deputy Director and Officer in Charge of the Liaison and Coordination Section and Logistics Support Section at the MFO Headquarters in Sharm el-Sheikh on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
