
TOKYO: Japanese Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru held a meeting with Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah of Jordan in Tokyo on Thursday and restated Japan’s commitment for a two-state solution for Palestine, the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo said.
Ishiba welcomed the Crown Prince’s participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo and described Jordan as a “lynchpin for stability” in the Middle East.
He said Japan is committed to continuing its efforts for a two-state solution and establishing peace and prosperity in the region in coordination with Jordan. He also thanked Jordan for its cooperation in evacuating Japanese nationals from neighboring countries.
Crown Prince Hussein highlighted the value of the partnership between Jordan and Japan, and appreciated support from Japan in various fields, including economic reforms. He also stated that Jordan will spare no effort in helping Japan, including protecting Japanese nationals.
They discussed bilateral cooperation and various issues in the Middle East, including the situation in Gaza, and agreed for the two countries to continue to work together.
