TOKYO: The third round of negotiations for the Japan-United Arab Emirates Economic Partnership Agreement was held in Tokyo from Monday to Wednesday, covering topics such as intellectual property and digital trade.

The chief negotiator for Japan was TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, the Ambassador for International Economic Affairs, with representatives from relevant ministries also in attendance. 

Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs Juma Al Kait, of the Ministry of Economy, headed the UAE’s team.

According to the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo, the discussions also covered the modality of negotiations, as well trade in goods, rules of origin, trade in services, competition policy, customs procedures and trade facilitation, and other areas.

The fourth round of negotiations will be determined through diplomatic channels.
