TOKYO: A protest march was held in Tokyo on Sunday in support of an event taking place in Egypt called the “March to Gaza.”
The event in Egypt started on Saturday with the aim of marching to Gaza’s Rafah crossing to demand an end to the massacre and blockade of Gaza.
The organizers in Tokyo stated: “We, too, in Tokyo are marching to demonstrate our solidarity with the people who will be marching to Gaza from Egypt to the people living in Gaza and to all Palestinians around the world.”
They said they wanted to march to “voice our demands” for a world that does not tolerate Israel’s genocide and ethnic cleansing, adding, “Let’s raise our voices for Palestine and push Japanese society and the government to action!”
They urged people to “globalize the intifada against all oppression everywhere” and never stop talking about Palestine.
The march in Tokyo started in the popular Shibuya shopping district before heading to other districts.
The marchers chanted slogans such as “Free Palestine,” “Abolish Israel,” “Netanyahu is a war criminal” and “Stop the Genocide.”
