TOKYO: About a hundred protesters gathered outside the US Embassy on Sunday to protest the bombing of three nuclear facilities in Iran.
The protesters, including NAJAT, a group calling for a boycott of arms to Israel, held signs and chanted slogans targeting US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The protesters expressed concern that the bombings could cause radioactive leaks.
A protestor working in the medical field in Tokyo expressed outrage at the war being waged by Trump and Netanyahu. Sheila said Trump had promised to bring peace to the Middle East but instead had created more conflicts.
A Japanese Muslim said he was shocked by the American bombing, adding that too much blood has already been shed.
Demonstrators also shouted in support of Palestinian children, chanting, “Don’t starve Palestinian babies to death.”
Other slogans included: “Arrest Netanyahu and Trump!” “Trump should stop attacking Iran!” “Trump’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities is a war crime!” “Hands off Iran,” “Boycott USA,” “Trump is a terrorist,” “Stop the bombing; cease fire right now” and “Trump is Criminal in Chief.”
Other speakers demanded that Japan stop its close relations with Israel.
At the end of the protest, the demonstrators demanded halting the American involvement and Israeli occupation forces withdrawal from Palestine.
