TOKYO: The 4th Coast Guard Global Summit will be held away from Tokyo for the first time this year when the Italian Coast Guard hosts the event in September, Japan’s Coast Guard reported.

 Prior to that, Japan will host a “Japan-Italian Coast Guard Joint Seminar” at the Italy Pavilion of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. It will be presented by the Commandant of the Japan Coast Guard and the Deputy Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard.

 The Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS) was first held in Tokyo in 2017 as a “new platform of dialogue and cooperation” to discuss and disseminate methods of cooperation and collaboration among Coast Guards and maritime agencies of the world, beyond bilateral and regional frameworks. Since then, it has been held three times in Tokyo.

 This year, the 4th Summit will be hosted by the Italian Coast Guard in Rome on September 11 and 12.
