Japan’s National Diet have approved the “Agreement between Japan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for the Promotion and Protection of Investment."

The upper house of the National Diet of Japan completed the ratification process on May 13.

This agreement aims to promote investment in order to strengthen the economic relationship between the two countries. Furthermore, it creates stable, equitable, favorable, and transparent conditions for investors from the two countries to explore investment opportunities, which leverages and builds on the recently upgraded bilateral strategic relationships in business sectors.

The agreement was signed on Nov. 27, 2018 by Dr. Mary Kawar, the former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation representing the Jordanian Government, and Japanese Defense Minister, who is also the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kono Taro, representing the Government of Japan. This was done in the presence of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, and Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.
