
TOKYO: Cumulative novel coronavirus cases confirmed in Japan stood at 31,386 as of 10 a.m. July 27, up by 5,239 from a week before.
The death toll linked to the virus across the nation was up by 12 at 1,011.
The total included 712 passengers and crew members of the
Diamond Princess cruise ship, quarantined off Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, 149 crew members of the Costa Atlantica, a cruise ship, which was hit by an outbreak while it was docked in the southwestern city of Nagasaki, and 15 people who returned on flights chartered by the Japanese government.
By prefecture, Tokyo had the largest number of cumulative infection cases, at 11,214, up by 1,803, followed by Osaka, western Japan, at 3,188, up by 768, and Kanagawa, at 2,239, up by 241.
