TOKYO: An expert group of the Cabinet Office on Thursday confirmed that the Japanese economy slipped into a recession after reaching a peak, dated provisionally at October 2018.
This means that the economic expansion from December 2012, when Prime Minister Shinzo Abe returned to power, lasted 71 months.
The period was slightly shorter than the “Izanami” boom, the longest postwar expansion, which lasted 73 months to February 2008.
