TOKYO: The metropolitan government said Thursday it confirmed 195 new cases of coronavirus infection in Tokyo the same day.

The daily count topped 100 for the first time in four days.

People in their 20s made up the largest group, at 53, while those in their 30s and 40s totaled 70.

The number of severely ill patients in the Japanese capital stood at 28, unchanged from the previous day.
