TOKYO: Japanese science and technology policy minister Shinji Inoue and administrative reform minister Taro Kono on Wednesday agreed to work closely on reform of the Science Council of Japan.

“Kono will examine the council’s budgets and capacity from the perspective of administrative reform, and I’ll review its functions and roles,” Inoue told reporters after their first meeting on the matter.

Inoue, who oversees the SCJ, plans to reach a conclusion on its reform by the end of the year.
