Japan’s emperor Naruhito honoured Mr. Taher Masri, Former Prime Minister of Jordan on Nov. 11 at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
Masri was awarded with the Japanese imperial Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun for “his contribution to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting friendship between Japan and Jordan.”
“It is a great honour for me personally and I appreciate the fact that the Japanese government had chosen me to be decorated with this high decoration,” Masri said.
He followed by expressing how he is very overwhelmed by the ceremony, and what it means for Japan-Jordan relations.
“I think it is a kind of expressing relations and friendship between Jordan and Japan,” he shared.
He furthered by stating how “this is not the only matter that shows the good relation between us, but it is one of them.”
To conclude, the former Jordanian prime minister shared a message praising Japan.
“We have to remember that the only nation to suffer from an atomic bomb is Japan, and they have learned a good lesson and they are peace-loving nation and we support these people and would like the whole world to learn from Japan,” Masri said.
