Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said Sunday that the first batch of Pfizer Inc.’s novel coronavirus vaccine in the country was safe from a strong earthquake that mainly struck northeastern Japan on Saturday night.
The government has been informed by the U.S. drugmaker that the place where the vaccine is kept was not affected by a power outage that happened due to the quake and that the vaccine is stored at appropriate temperatures.
There has been no report about impact on the quality of the vaccine from the earthquake, he added.
The first batch of the Pfizer vaccine arrived in Japan on Friday.
