TOKYO: Japan has experienced 37 earthquakes with seismic intensity of 1 or higher in the past week (March 3-10), the meteorological agency reported.
March 11 marks the 10th anniversary of the 9.0 earthquake that caused a massive tsunami and nuclear disaster.
The recent earthquakes included one with a seismic intensity of 3 off the eastern coast of Hokkaido and another with a seismic intensity of 3 off the eastern coast of Chiba Prefecture. The biggest quake had a seismic intensity of 4 and originated off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, which was severely hit by the earthquake 10 years ago.
