A total of 355 new cases of novel coronavirus infection were confirmed in Tokyo on Sunday, the metropolitan government said.

The daily tally in the Japanese capital stood below 400 for the first time in five days.

According to the metropolitan government, the seven-day average of new cases came to 389.7, up 11 pct from a week earlier.

The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients, counted by Tokyo’s criteria, fell by one from the previous day to 47.
