TOKYO: Japan has submitted its claim of factual errors in a UN panel report last autumn criticizing the repeated arrest and detention by the country of former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn, Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa has revealed.
“We want to reiterate that our country’s actions (against Ghosn) were not arbitrary,” Kamikawa told a press conference on Friday.
In the claim, Japan said the repeated arrest and detention of Ghosn were conducted for different charges and based on strict judicial examinations under the country’s law.
Since Ghosn was indicted for alleged financial misconduct, he has secretly left Japan, breaching his bail conditions.
