The Tokyo metropolitan government said that the daily number of new coronavirus cases in Tokyo amounted to 542 on Tuesday, down 190 from a week earlier.
In the western Japan prefecture of Osaka, the daily coronavirus count dropped 181 to 327.
In Tokyo, the seven-day average of daily new cases stood at 611 on the day, down 19.3 pct from a week before.
Under the metropolitan government’s criteria, the number of ongoing severe coronavirus cases increased by three from the previous day to 71.
