
The daily number of new COVID-19 cases in Tokyo rose by 234 on Saturday from a week before to 950, the metropolitan government said.
Across Japan, the number of severe COVID-19 cases dropped by 13 from the previous day to 428, according to the health ministry.
Tokyo’s seven-day average of daily infection cases rose 27.9 pct from a week before to 720.1.
Of Saturday’s new cases in the capital, 301 were in their 20s, 186 in their 30s, 172 in their 40s and 107 in their 50s. People aged 65 or over accounted for 48.
Under the metropolitan government’s criteria, the number of severe cases in Tokyo rose by one to 63.
