Death toll from Atami mudslide rises to 15

ATAMI: The death toll from the violent mudslide that occurred in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan on July 3 rose to 15 on Sunday.

One individual has been newly confirmed dead, according to the city government.

Another body was discovered and authorities are checking its possible link to the mudslide.

With 14 people still unaccounted for, some 1,300 police officers, firefighters, Self-Defense Forces members and other personnel are continuing search efforts.
