TOKYO: Japan on Monday condemned the Friday attack against the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) ship that is run and managed by an Israeli-owned firm in the UK and extended its deep condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families.
The attack took place on Friday (July 30) in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Oman.
The foreign ministry in Tokyo said Japan is deeply concerned by the incident, which impedes the free navigation of ships amid the continued high tensions in the Middle East.
“Peace and stability in the Middle East are vital for Japan and the international community. Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts toward easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in this region,” the ministry said.
