Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s aerobatic team, Blue Impulse,  flew over Tokyo for about 15 minutes at 2:00 pm on the 24th for the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics.

The team went around the National Stadium, Tokyo Sky Tree, and Tokyo Tower while emitting smoke in three colors:  red, blue, and green representative of the Paralympic symbol mark.

For the opening of the Paralympics, the aircraft show was announced the day before to avoid large crowds gathering in an ongoing effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Air Self-Defense Force called for people to see the show at intervals rather than gathering in one place.
