TOKYO: Japanese minister in charge of COVID-19 vaccine rollout HORIUCHI Noriko said Wednesday she thinks the government has achieved its goal of fully vaccinating all residents wishing to receive their shots by November.
While the government aimed to provide inoculations to all willing citizens by early November, 78.8 percent of the population had been vaccinated once and 76.9 percent twice as of Tuesday.
“I appreciate that nearly 80 percent of the population has received shots,” Horiuchi told reporters.
“We remain prepared to give first and second shots to willing people,” she said.
