TOKYO:  Anti-vaccine protesters clashed with activists who tried to prevent their flash mob from coming together at Shinjuku Station in Tokyo

The activists were dressed in kimonos and various types of Japanese cosplay.

With a large police presence on hand and opponents in helmets aiming to stop them, their actions were quickly cut short and they were urged to leave the square in front of the station .

Police in uniform and plainclothes stood between the two groups, while pro-mask activists called on the police to evacuate and arrest the anti-vaccine activists.

Since the appearance of the Omicron coronavirus variant in Japan, the country has seen record levels of infection.
