TOKYO: An earthquake with seismic intensity of 3 struck Kanto region and shaken Tokyo buildings without causing a tsunami, Japan Metrological Agency reported on May 3.
Seismic intensity below 3 was observed in the surrounding prefectures including Tokyo, Kanagawa and Gotenba town near Mount Fuji.
“My building gave a great jolt that caused me to jump forward – laptop was on my knees and the screen went fuzzy for a few seconds,” an Eye witness in Ichikawa City, Chiba prefecture near Tokyo told Arab News Japan
The epicenter of the earthquake was Eastern Tama, Tokyo at a depth of 130km with a magnitude of 4.6, the Agency said. No damage or injuries have been reported so far, local media said.
