TOKYO: Japan has welcomed the holding of a parliamentary election in Lebanon, which took place on May 15.
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted in a statement that the election was held “on schedule and without major security incidents despite various challenging circumstances.”
Japan paid respect to all parties for their efforts in making the election a success.
The statement mentioned that the government of Japan believes that stability in Lebanon is indispensable to the stability of the Middle East.
“From this perspective, the Japanese Government hopes that a new cabinet will be formed promptly, and that political stability will be achieved through concrete results of reforms in economic, judicial and other fields that will benefit the Lebanese people.”
