TOKYO: Japan will provide $3 million in emergency grant aid to Sri Lanka, which is in an economic crisis, Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa said Friday.
The aid will be used to deliver medical goods and food through UNICEF and the UN World Food Program.
Sri Lanka is struggling with rapid inflation and huge debts to China.
“We hope that the aid will help Sri Lanka to overcome the difficulties,” Hayashi told a press conference.
