TOKYO: A magnitude 4.8 earthquake hit the Kinki and Shikoku regions at around 0:51 am on June 17, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, noting there was no need to worry about the tsunami caused by this earthquake.
The earthquake’s epicenter was in the southern part of Tokushima Prefecture at a depth of about 50 km.
The seismic intensity of 4 was observed in southern Tokushima and 3 in northern Tokushima, Hyogo Awaji Island, northern Wakayama, eastern Kagawa, and eastern Kochi.
Tokushima Prefecture is located on the island of Shikoku. The prefectural capital is Tokushima City.
