Japan’s Defense Minister Taro Kono had a telephone conversation with Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday.

Kono reportedly explained the SDF’s Middle East dispatch plan and requested cooperation. 

Saudi Arabia has announced its participation in a US-led coalition to secure vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and elsewhere.
