 TOKYO: Tokyo logged 9,482 new cases of COVID-19 Sunday, up by 5,694 from a week before and marking week-on-week growth for the 23rd consecutive day.

One new fatality related to the novel coronavirus was confirmed in the Japanese capital on the day.

According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the seven-day average of new infection cases stood at 7,559.9, up 136.2 pct from a week before. The number of COVID-19 patients with serious symptoms under Tokyo’s own criteria came to 10, unchanged from Saturday.
