DUBAI: London based-global citizenship and resident advisory firm Henley & Partners recently released its quarterly report on the world’s most desirable passports, naming Japan as the number one most powerful passport.
Japan has pushed ahead of other countries to offer its citizens a visa-free or visa-on-demand access to 193 destinations around the world, setting an unprecedented record.
The Henley Passport Index, is one the several indexes produced by financial firms to rank passports all around the world according to their accessibility to destinations without a prior visa. It is updated in real time throughout the year, shadowing effective visa policy changes.
Similarly, the Arton Capital’s Index named the United Arab Emirates as the most powerful passport in 2022, with a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 171 destinations.
Arton Capital’s Passport Index considers the passports of 193 United Nations member countries and six territories which include ROC Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, Kosovo, Palestinian territories and the Vatican. Territories annexed to other countries are not included.
