TOKYO: High school students from the United Arab Emirates and Tokyo met with Tokyo Governor KOIKE Yuriko on Aug. 1 as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of relations between the two countries.

The meeting with the governor included 10 students from the UAE and 10 from Japan and took place at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

The exchange allowed students aged 15 to 18 to meet and briefly familiarize themselves with another culture and to share their thoughts on their visit. The Japanese students from the Mitaka district of Tokyo thanked their guests and expressed a wish to visit the Emirates.

The Governor of Tokyo made a point of congratulating the students, who spent two weeks in Japan, in Arabic and in English. She also thanked President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed  Al Nayhan, who made this cultural exchange possible.
