Japan’s Minister of Digital transformation, KONO Taro, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha, met with officials from the Group of 20 leading rich and developing nations in Indonesia’s resort island of Bali.

During the two-day visit, Al-Swaha, KONO and TSUGE Yoshifumi, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications discussed ways to expand the Saudi-Japan partnership and cooperation in digital economy and innovation.

The meetings follow the conclusion of the G20 Digital Economy Ministers’ Meeting (DEMM), hosted by this year’s chair Indonesia.
Al-Swaha reviewed the successive achievements of the communications and information technology system in the Kingdom with the support of the Saudi leadership, which qualified it to issue many relevant international and global indicators, Saudi Press Agency reported.
Also in attendance were the ministers of digital economy, communications and science and high-level government officials from Indonesia, India, China, and the US, all of which held several bilateral meetings.
The meetings discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership in the areas of digital economy growth, emerging technologies, digital government, technical talent development, innovation promotion, and space technologies.
