Tokyo reported 8,018 new cases of novel coronavirus infection on Saturday, down by 1,970 from a week before.

Ten new deaths were confirmed in the Japanese capital, while the number of severely ill patients under Tokyo’s own criteria stood at 24, down by two from Friday.

The seven-day average of new infection cases came to 8,333, down by 16.5 pct from a week ago, according to the metropolitan government.
