
Tokyo: Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday began a three-day series of talks with foreign leaders visiting Tokyo for Tuesday’s state funeral of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Kishida met Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency, at the Akasaka Palace State Guest House in Tokyo Monday afternoon.
Foreign leaders Kishida is slated to meet Monday include U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
“We’ll demonstrate our determination to take on and develop the diplomatic legacy that Abe cultivated,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a press conference.
