Japan’s Defense Minister Taro Kono visited the Ground Self-Defense Force Narashino Garrison (Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture) on Sunday and experienced parachute descent training.
Wearing a camouflaged uniform, he screamed in excitement, "Taro Kono, I'll do my best," and jumped off the 11-meter-high tower.
Kono told reporters after the experience, "I usually say that I will take the lead for the members, so I was a little enthusiastic."
Kono also inspected the training conducted by the Ground Self-Defense Force's 1st Airborne Group at the Narashino Exercise Area.
During training, the GSDF jumped from a transport aircraft at a maximum altitude of about 1,650 meters using a parachute.
